BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College men’s soccer team learned Thursday afternoon who they will be playing in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NJCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championships next week at Herkimer College.

#5 Genesee (17-3) will meet #4 Nassau Community College in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship on Thursday, November 14 at 1:30pm. The Cougars and the Lions played against each other earlier this season with the Lions winning the match, 3-0. Adrian Bergman made nine saves in net for Genesee and the Cougars could only put five shots on net against Nassau.

Going into the contest, Genesee’s Hiago Barros de Souza leads the entire nation in goals (34) and points (82). Ed Port leads the country in assists with 33 and is second in points with 73. Nassau is led by Jason Cruz who has scored 25 goals this season and has 11 assists. Cruz had one assist in the game against Genesee in early September on Long Island.

The winner of the matchup will face the winner of the #1 Richland/#8 Sussex County (NJ) matchup in the semifinals. All games will take place at Wehrum Stadium in Herkimer, NY. All games will also be broadcasted on NJCAATV.
