HENRIETTA, NY… The Genesee Community College women's volleyball team won two of their three matches this weekend at the Monroe Community College pod match. The Cougars were swept by Jefferson CC (25-13, 25-18, 25-19) and swept both matches against Cayuga CC (25-6, 25-7, 25-20) and Onondaga CC (25-15, 25-17, 25-18).
In the first game of the day against Jefferson CC, the Blue and Gold were led by Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto with seven kills and three digs. Morgan Mathis had six kills. Neely Abrams had eight assists and Grace Masse had seven.
Genesee got back on the court to take down Cayuga CC in straight sets. Once again, strong play by Genesee's Morgan Mathis, Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto, and Grace Masse led the way.
In their match against Onondaga CC, Genesee came out firing on all cylinders to pick up the win in three sets. Strong play from the entire lineup propelled the Blue and Gold to the win.
Genesee (6-3) is back in action on Thursday, September 26 as the team travels to Mercyhurst Northeast for a WNYAC contest at 6pm.
