No. 6 Women’s Soccer Team Gets Seventh-Consecutive Win

The Genesee Community College women's soccer team extended its win streak to seven games with a 3-0 victory over visiting Tompkins Cortland. During the current win streak, Genesee out-scored its oppositions by 30 goals.

The Cougars have been perfect in September and so has Leah Czechowski. Both the team and Czechowski started their streaks this month and Czechowski now has 23 points in the last seven victories.

She led Genesee again and was in on every Cougar score with a goal and two assists. Almost half of her points this month have come in the last two games were she produced 11.

The Cougars learned earlier in the day that they improved in the National Junior College Athletic Association D-III Poll and are now at No. 6.

Miko Yamashita broke the halftime stalemate  after a feed from Czechowski during the first minute of the second half. Twenty minutes later, Czechowski set-up Maddie Cummings for an insurance marker before Czechowski capped the game's scoring with one of her own with a beautiful header.

Cougar goalkeeper Jaclyn Guzdek had one save for her fifth clean sheet in the last seven starts and nation-leading sixth shutout overall.

Genesee next travels to No. 2 Erie Sept. 27 at 2 p.m.
