No. 7 Women’s Soccer Team Extends Win Streak to Five

The No. 7 Genesee Community College women's soccer team extended its win streak to five games with a 4-1 win over the visiting junior varsity  St. John Fisher squad Sept. 18.

Diante Scheepers got the team's first and last goals and added an assist for a five-point outing, while Leah Czechowski also added a goal and an assist.

Julie Kommer broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the final minute of the first half for the game winner that was assisted by Katline Cartwright, who had two assists in the game.

Jaclyn Guzdek recorded four saves in the win as the Cougars out-shot the cardinals 17-6 for the contest with 13 Genesee shots finding the target. The cougars also held an edge in corner kicks, 5-3.

The Cougars have now out-scored oppositions 26-4 during the current five-game win streak as the team slid up one spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association polls that were released today.

Genesee will try to extend its win streak to six games this weekend when they travel to Jefferson Community College Sept. 22 with a 1 p.m. start.
