Regional Third-Seeded No. 4 Women’s Soccer Team Awaits Semifinal Playoff Opponent

NJCAA Soccer Logo & GCC Cougar - Region 3 Women's Soccer update

The No. 4 Genesee Community College women's soccer team will host an undetermined team Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. to start its playoff run to a potential regional and national title.

The Cougars will play the winner of tomorrow's regional quarterfinal contest between Jamestown Community College and Finger Lakes Community College at 3 p.m. Oct. 24. The Jayhawks bested the Lakers during the regular season 2-0 Sept. 20 at Jamestown with this matchup set at Canandaigua.

The Cougars did shutout both of those teams during a seven-day span with a 2-0 win against Jamestown Oct. 4 and a 1-0 victory over Finger Lakes Oct. 11.

Two Region III winners will emerge to the national tournament as the regional set-up will provide for  District A and District B champions.

If the Cougars advance against the winner of the Jayhawks/Lakers game, they would host the winner of the other District B semifinal between No. 2 Erie and Mohawk Valley/Tompkins-Cortland. The Hawks and Panthers will also compete tomorrow to determine who will play Erie with that semifinal winner potentially facing Genesee Oct. 29 in Batavia.

In competition against those three teams this season, the Cougars finished 2-0-1 with a tie against the Kats 2-2 Oct. 28 in double overtime and wins over Mohawk Valley (3-1 Sept. 2) and Tompkins-Cortland (3-0 Sept. 9).
