No. 2 Women’s Soccer Team Completes Road Trip with Convincing Win

The No. 2 Genesee Community College women's soccer team completed its three-game road trip with an 8-1 win at Clinton Community College Oct. 15.

During the three road wins, the Cougars scored a dozen goals and a third of its season total of 36. The last time the Cougars allowed a goal in a win was Sept. 6 at Corning as the team improves to 12-2-1 overall on the season.

Leading the way for Genesee with a pair of goals each was Sara Zakes and Miko Yamashita, with the latter also picking up a couple of assists as well as the game-winning goal as both combined for 10 points on the afternoon.

Katline Cartwright and Leah Herman were the only other Cougars to be in on two or more goals with Cartwright recording a goal and an assist, while Herman registered a pair of assists.

Rounding out the goal-scoring for Genesee was Karli Phillips, Allison Becker and Leah Czechowski. Four other Cougars recorded assists that included Bri Heers, Kali Wright, Paige Biggins and Jayna Wright.

The Genesee Cougars out-shot the Clinton Cougars 33-2, while each team had four corner kicks.

Rachel Meyer recorded the win in net with one save.
