No. 1 Women’s Soccer Team Rallies Twice for Tie with No. 2 Erie

Women's Soccer celebrating a goal

The No. 1-ranked Genesee Community College women's soccer team rallied not once, but twice to tie visiting No. 2 Erie. The Cougars out-shot the Kats in the overtimes, but just couldn't get the last goal for the win.

Leah Czechowski took a feed from Allison Becker just past the midway point of the first half to knot the game at 1-1, and then Czechowski fed Miko Yamashita 18 minutes into the second half to tie the contest again – this time at 2-2.

Czechowski had the most productive night of any player with three points with one goal and one assist.

Cougar keeper Jaclyn Guzdek out-dueled her counterpart with a double-digit save performance, and she also had help from Julie Kommer on one dangerous Kat attack with a defensive save.

Yamashita and Katline Cartwright each had a team-high four shots, with Yamashita and Bri Heers registering a pair of shots on net apiece.

The Cougars will next host Jamestown Community College, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. The game will live-streamed at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/59y5DKH5kFN
