No. 7 Genesee Holds Off No. 3 Finger Lakes

For the fifth time this season, the No. 7 GCC women's soccer team defeated an opponent by a 1-0 score, this time against visiting No. 3 Finger Lakes CC. Despite being outshot 9-5 on Wednesday afternoon, the Cougars held on and improved to 11-3 this fall with the one-goal win.

Paige Biggins recorded the game's lone goal, snapping nearly 68 minutes of scoreless play. Biggins beat the FLCC goalkeeper with a header off of a cross on a free kick by Gabriella Garcea, who earned the assist. The goal was Biggins' second score of the fall.

GCC keeper Katlynne Tubo stopped all nine shots on goal that she faced, recording her ninth shutout win of the season. She now has 18 in her career which ties the GCC record, and her nine this season is two shy of the single-season mark.

The Cougars' defense held its opponent scoreless in a win for the fourth consecutive time.

Genesee will play the final game of its current four-game homestand on Saturday afternoon against Herkimer College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
