BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College women's basketball team are now on a two-game winning streak after sweeping both contests during the annual Cougar Holiday Classic this past weekend.
On Saturday, Genesee defeated Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) 80-77 and on Sunday, secured a late victory over Bryant & Stratton College of Ohio 63-61.
TaLia Burgess was the Tournament's Most Valuable Player after her performances over the weekend. Burgess scored 17 points against the Knights on Saturday and added a double-double against the Bobcats on Sunday with 14 points and 10 rebounds. LisBeth Pineda Polanco and Erina Ishiguro also were named to the All-Tournament Team representing Genesee. Shilah Parker and Kenetria Redfern (Niagara County CC), Jada Littlejohn from CCRI, Rachelle White (Bryant & Stratton) were also honored for their play over the weekend.
Genesee (9-3) will host Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm. The game against the Lakers will be the second meeting of the season and will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com and you can follow along on twitter @GCCSports.
