Fourth Quarter Rally Falls Short Against Kats for Lady Basketball Cougars

GCC Women's Basketball Team on bench watching game

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team had its two-game win streak snapped by Erie Community College, 77-62, Nov. 8 at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo.

The Cougars played their best ball in the fourth quarter, where they out-scored Erie by nine points, 23-14. Erie had the hotter hand from outside the arc and their five-more three's than Genesee coincided with Erie's same margin of victory.

Rosalyn Sealey led the Cougars with 16 points, while Reika Murota added 13 and a team-high five steals.

Estella Anderson added nine points from the bench and was one point away from a double-double after posting a team-high 10 rebounds.

Jasmine Holmes added nine boards, also from the bench.

Genesee was solid in the first and fourth quarters with those totals combined favoring the Cougars at 29-21, but Erie came on strong in the second and third quarters to ultimately take the contest.

The Cougars return home for a pair of games beginning this Saturday, Nov. 11 to host visiting Cuyahoga Community College at 1 p.m.
