The GCC women's basketball team fell to 2-4 in conference and 10-15 overall on Saturday after falling to visiting Erie CC 72-60.
The Cougars started slow, falling behind 21-6 after the first quarter and committed 16 first half turnovers. Erie limited GCC to just seven field goals in the first 20 minutes and the Kats led by 17 at the half.
Genesee clawed back in the second and even got to within six in the third quarter. Kiyomi Nakakoji scored 12 third quarter points, including two 3pt baskets to help get the Cougars back in it.
Erie pulled away, however and forced seven more GCC turnovers in the fourth quarter to drop the Cougars for the second time this year.
Norvonee Hall led three Cougars to reach double figures in scoring with 16 points, and she also grabbed 12 rebounds. Nakakoji finished with 14 points, Rosalyn Sealey added 12 points, Brionna Blocker chipped in six points, six rebounds and four assists, and Lauren Watson added seven points and six boards.
Genesee will return to action on the road on Wednesday at Monroe CC. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
