Top Three Finishes Propel Cougars at Pioneer Invitational

ALFRED, NY… The Genesee Swimming and Diving Teams performed well as this past weekend's Pioneer Invitational at Alfred State University.  The men placed second overall and the women placed third overall.

The men's team of Carlitos Sanchez, Ryan Mahaney, Ferran Martinez, and Brandon Brown won the Men 200 Medley Relay. Tyler Stachowiak placed first in the men's 200 Freestyle, with Brandon Brown placing third. Ethan Heim finished third in the 100 Breaststroke while teammate Brandon Cutter placed fourth.  while Carlitos Sanchez placed second in the 100 Backstroke. Ferran Martinez won the 200 Butterfly.

Brandon Brown was victorious in the 100 Freestyle with Sanchez, Stachowiak, and Evan Fix all finishing inside the top five. Ferran Martinez won the 200 Breaststroke, and the 400 IM. Ethan Heim and Brandon Cutter placed third and fourth respectively in the 400 IM.  Ryan Mahaney placed second in the 100 Butterfly. Tyler Stachowiak placed first win the 500 Freestyle with Brandon Brown placing third.  . Evan Fix, Brandon Brown, Ryan Mahaney, and Carlitos Sanchez placed first in the 200 Freestyle Relay while the team of Weston Head, Ethan Heim, Ferran Martinez and Tyler Stachowiak placed third.

Elizabeth Richardson led the way for the women by placing third in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 100 Freestyle. Rayelle Merrell and Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto both placed inside the top ten in the 100 Freestyle and all three were inside the top 10 in the 50 Freestyle. Merrell and Carolina Cerezer Pinto swam well in the 100 Breastroke.
