Swimming and Diving Perform Well at Monroe CC Invite

ROCHESTER, NY… The Genesee swimming and diving team competed this past weekend at the Monroe CC December Invite and performed well.

The men had some strong performances throughout the meet.  Brandon Brown won the 200 Freestyle. Ryan Mahaney was the highest finishing GCC athlete in the 100 Individual Medley (IM). Mahaney was the top GCC swimmer in the 50 Butterfly. Ferran Martinez won the 200 IM.  In the men's 50 Freestyle, Carlitos Sanchez, Tyler Stachowiak, and Weston Head swept the podium finishes. The team of Brandon Brown, Ryan Mahaney, Ferran Martinez and Carlitos Sanchez finished second in the Men 200 Medley Relay.  Stachowiak and Head placed first and second in the 100 Freestyle.  Sanchez won the 100 Backstroke while Martinez placed second in the 50 Breaststroke. The team of Martinez, Mahaney, Stachowiak, and Brown finished second in the 800 Freestyle Relay.

The women were led by Elizabeth Richardson and Natalie Amico, who finished second and third respectively in the 50 Freestyle. Richardson also placed second in the 50 Breaststroke and the 100 Freestyle. Amico finished third in the 100 Backstroke, and placed second in the 50 Butterfly. Karly Siperek also swam well in the 50 Breaststroke.
