All 10 members of the Genesee Community College men's and women's swimming and diving teams scored points in multiple events at the GCC Harvest Invitational on Nov. 5, leading to a combined victory over Jamestown CC and Herkimer College. The men's squad tallied 447 points and a first place finish and the women finished runner-up with 243 points.
Miranda Dunton and Angel Priest swam to three first place finishes apiece to lead the women. Dunton won the 500 freestyle by nearly 50 seconds, finishing in 6:03.17. She topped the 200 free with a finishing time of 2:17.25 and won the 100 free with a time of 1:02.91. Priest won the 200 IM by almost 10 seconds (2:31.94), the 100 backstroke (1:08.24) and the 100 butterfly (1:11.58). MiKenna Carpenter added three second place finishes, swimming runner-up in the 50 free (28.04), 100 free (1:04.17) and the 100 breaststroke (1:28.38).
Joan Ferrer topped two events on the men's side, winning the 200 free (2:01.36) and the 500 free (5:22.35). He also anchored two winning relays, the 200 free (1:41.12) and a come from behind win in the 400 free (3:39.90). Kyle Podlaski added a first place individual finish in the 100 backstroke (1:00.70), and Thomas Slenker won the diving portion of the meet with a total score of 197.77.
Genesee will return to action on Nov. 12 at the Monroe CC quad-meet. Scheduled start time is 1 p.m.
