ROCHESTER, NY: The Genesee Community College softball season came to an end on Tuesday afternoon after the Cougars lost in the opening round of the Region III tournament to Monroe Community College 5-4.
Fifth-seeded Genesee, looking to make back-to-back appearances in the regional final four for the first time in school history, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after an RBI double by Mackenzie Weber.
Shannon Baker kept the fourth-seeded Tribunes' bats quiet through the first two innings and got run support in the third. GCC loaded the bases with one out and Kristin Hohn delivered a two-run single to put the visitors in front 3-0.
