No. 9 Men’s Soccer Team Scores 13 in Pair of Shutouts

The ninth-ranked National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division-III Genesee Community College's men's soccer team took its show on the road and returned to Batavia with a pair of shutout wins against Corning Community College and Tompkins-Cortland Community College to improve the team's season record at 3-2.

Three players emerged from those games with impressive statistics as Genesee beat the Red Barons 9-0, Sept. 6; and followed that performance with a 4-0 win against the Panthers Sept. 9.

Goalkeeper David Ormiston recorded back-to-back shutouts bringing his total to three on the young season. Ormiston has only allowed one regulation goal in his last four starts with that goal coming by way of the then-second-ranked team in the nation.

Ryan Price was the team's leading scorer during the past week with a trio of goals against the Panthers and a trio of assists and a goal against the Red Barons. In all Price accumulated 11 points in just two region contests.

Charlie Livesey recorded a pair of assists at Corning, and followed that up with a three-point game with a goal and assist against Tompkins-Cortland.

Tate Dean had a pair of goals against Corning, while single tallies came from Glenn Holmes, Philip Melo, Luke Bayliss, Hijiri Sano, Billy Murphy and Kyle McMillen, with the latter four also adding assists.

Rounding out the scoring against the Red Barons with an assist was Narhum Nivillac, while Holmes and Melo added assists in the win against the Panthers.

The Cougars return home for their next six contests beginning with a matchup against Niagara County Community College Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. If you can't attend the game, it will be streamed live from the Richard C.
