Sam King became the latest sophomore of the GCC men's soccer program to sign a National Letter of Intent to continue on at a four year school. King recently committed to Merrimack College (MA) and will join the Warriors this fall.

Sam was a captain for the Cougars during the 2016 season and was selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American Second Team. During his two year career at Genesee, King anchored the Genesee defense and contributed 13 points from the back line, scoring four career goals and assisting on five. He started 34 of the 37 games he played at GCC and was named to the All-Region III and All-Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) team during his freshman and sophomore campaigns.

Merrimack College is located in North Andover, MA and is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II member school. The Warriors compete in the Northeast-10 Conference and played to a 15-6 overall record in 2016, including a trip to the second round of the NCAA National Tournament.

King will receive athletic scholarship to attend Merrimack and is currently undecided on an area of study.
