Godoi Headed to the University of West Florida

GCC men's soccer midfielder Rafael Godoi (Osasco, Brazil) recently signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of West Florida soccer program beginning in the fall.

Godoi was a two-year starter for the Cougars, appearing in 39 games during his two seasons. He leaves the College as the career leader in assists with 39 and was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American, being named to the First Team as a freshman and a sophomore.

West Florida competes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II level and is a member school of the Gulf South Conference (GSC). The Argonauts are coached by Bill Elliott who just finished his 21st season, leading the program to a 10-5-3 record in 2016, which included a trip to the GSC Tournament Finals.

Godoi helped Genesee to back-to-back Region III championships and NJCAA National Tournament appearances. The Cougars won a combined 36 games during the past two seasons and set the NJCAA record for most goals in a season with 141 in 2015.

Godoi will receive athletic scholarship to attend West Florida and he plans to study either Computer Science or Business Administration.
