Men's Lacrosse

After joining the Genesee Men’s Lacrosse program as head coach in 2006, Dave Hoover is stepping into the associate head coach role, while his son Derek takes over the head coaching responsibilities.

Over the last 17 years, Dave posted a 134-70 record for the program, helping lead the program to numerous national tournaments and guiding the Cougars to a National Championship in 2016. Across that tenure more than 30 All-Americans played for Genesee, with 15 Academic All-Americans and an abundance of All-Region players. The program saw more than 80 student-athletes continue their academic and athletic careers at four-year colleges and universities.

Collegiately, Hoover was a four-year starter at Springfield College. In 1973, his junior year, he helped lead Springfield to their first NCAA tournament appearance. In his senior year, he was Captain of the team and received All-New England Honorable-Mention recognition. Hoover was also named Tri-Senior Athlete of the Year at Springfield College. He graduated cum laude and earned his B.S. degree in Physical Education, Health & Recreation from Springfield College in 1974.
