No. 2 Cougars Score Season-High 28 in Win Over Broome

Up three spots to No. 2 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Poll, the GCC men's lacrosse team put together its highest scoring effort of the season in a 28-4 win over visiting SUNY Broome on Wednesday night.

The game was never in doubt as the Cougars scored less than two and a half minutes into the game and led 8-0 after the first quarter and 15-0 at the half.

Davis Prince broke the single game record for most assists, a record he previously shared and tied this season on Mar. 29 against Mercyhurst North East with eight assists, having a hand in 10 goals on Wednesday night. Alex Mack led the GCC offense with seven goals, Pat Van Bortle scored four times and had three assists, Prince, Patrick Bilbrey, Baden Boyenko and Anson Gardner all ended the night with a hat trick and three goals apiece, and Josh Bernas, Matt Cromie, Robert Campany, Connor Harman and Riley Hartman each chipped in a goal.

Daniel Blocho led the midfield with six ground balls, Bilbrey collected five ground balls and caused four turnovers, Harman finished with five ground balls and three takeaways and Williams grabbed four ground balls.

Garrett Lazore logged two quarters in net and allowed just one goal while making seven saves, and Darin Eakins and DJ Kuras combined to make one save in a quarter of work apiece.

Genesee (8-2) will host Finger Lakes CC on Saturday for a 1 p.m. face-off.
