No. 5 Cougars Earn Road Win at Mercyhurst North East

The No. 5 Cougars traveled to Mercyhurst North East on Wednesday afternoon and earned a 27-4 win to improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) play.

GCC came out strong and scored 11 times in the first quarter. 12 different players recorded a point in the game for Genesee and the Cougars led 18-0 at the half, 22-1 after three quarters and won by a 23 goal differential.

Alex Mack recorded 10 points, scoring nine times and adding one assist. Patrick Bilbrey scored four goals and assisted on one, Pat Van Bortle and Seth Ferguson each scored twice and added an assist, Anson Gardner had two assists and one goal and Bailey Skye had a goal and an assist. Jonah Mohawk, Daniel Blocho, Josh Bernas and Robert Campany also scored for GCC, finding the back of the net one time apiece.

Brad Hejmanowski won all but four face-offs (26-30) and collected nine ground balls. Skye led the Cougars with 12 ground balls on the afternoon and Nate Ess finished with seven ground balls.

Genesee will continue its road trip when it travels to Hudson Valley CC on Friday. Face-off is set for 4 p.m.
