No. 4 Cougars Win Big in Final Regular Season Road Game

UTICA, NY: The No. 4 Cougars men's lacrosse team made it three wins in a row on Wednesday night, dropping Mohawk Valley CC on the road 26-1.

GCC had 14 different players record a point in the game and the Cougars held MVCC scoreless until the third quarter.

Davis Prince led the offensive attack with 13 points, scoring seven goals and assisting on six. Pat Van Bortle added four goals and two assists to total six points.

GCC led 11-0 after the first quarter and 18-0 at the break. The Hawks found the back of the net for their lone goal in the third quarter before Genesee scored four unanswered goals in the final period.

Jacob Bomberry finished with three goals and three assists and Alex Henry scored a goal and tallied two assists. Bailey Skye also chipped in two goals.

Mike Caternolo won 23 of 25 face-offs and collected 21 ground balls. Reed Hnidy led the defense with four caused turnovers and six ground balls, and also scored a goal and had an assist.

Darin Eakins made four saves in net during two quarters of work and Parker Phillips stopped two shots in the final two periods.

Genesee (10-3) will return home for its final regular season game of the year on Saturday against Herkimer College at 12 p.m.
