Men’s Basketball Team Records First Triple-Digit Performance of Season

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team swept its oppositions at the Jamestown Classic Crossover Tournament this weekend after a 100-90 win against Broome Community College in the tournament's final day to remain undefeated on the season at 2-0.

Genesee outscored the Hornets 49-39 in the first half with the 10-point margin holding steady to the end after each team netted 51 in the second.

Jamir Cheek led or co-led in three categories for the Cougars that included points (27), assists (6) and steals (2) as one of four double-digit scorers for Genesee.

Jarett Haines added 24 points and sank three of the team's four buckets from beyond the arc. Brian Russell co-led the team in rebounds with eight while adding 13 points and Javin Williams registered 11 points with a pair of steals.

Souleymane Gueye also had eight rebounds, while Genesee's bench added 21 collective points from Kevin Major (9), Jesse Parrilla (6) and Mic'khi Freeman (6).

The men's basketball team will next face the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. next weekend when they participate in the Niagara County Community College Tipoff Tournament.
