The Genesee Community College men's basketball team out-scored visiting Monroe Community College 57-54 in a second-half rally, but couldn't overcome the 10-point deficit from the first half before bowing to the Tribunes 90-83 Nov. 29.

Genesee was down by as much as 13 in the first, but kept knocking on th door before Caylen Williams' second of two free throws in the second half gave the Cougars its first lead since the game's opening minutes at 51-49.

The Cougars parlayed that into a pair of seven-point leads with the first coming from a pair of Rahmel Thompson free throws at 63-57 and the second through a Jaheem Page three that made it 66-59 midway through the second.

The Tribunes battled back and held the advantage with the game last tied at 71. Genesee got within one score at 86-83, but Monroe capped the night with four free throws for the 90-83 final.

For the second time in as many games, Brian Fobbs produced the most points and rebounds of anyone on the court for either team in an impressive performance that included a pair of dunks. When the game concluded Fobbs finished with 27 points, a dozen boards and a team-high three assists.

Thwarting Genesee's effort were a pair of offensive fouls and one ball infraction that took six points off the board for the Cougars.

Page was one rebound shy of joining Fobbs with a double-double after scoring a dozen points. Rahmel finished behind Fobbs in points with 18, while Brandon Peters and Jarett Haines each registered three steals.

The Cougars shot an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc in the second half with Thompson leading the way with three of the team's seven. That combined with a 93 percent free throw percentage in the second helped the Cougars rally from a double-digit deficit to take the lead about midway through the second.

Genesee next travels to Jamestown Community College with a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Jayhawks Dec. 6.
