Cougars Pull Away From Erie to Earn Win

The GCC men's basketball team once again used balanced scoring en-route to a Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) win on Saturday, dropping Erie CC 87-74.

Five Cougars reached double figures in scoring, led by Brian Fobbs who finished with a team-high 18 points.

GCC and ECC switched leads 20 times during the game, and only in the second half did Genesee grab a double-digit advantage. Erie's largest lead of four came midway through the first half.

Genesee out-rebounded Erie 44-32, thanks in part to Dejean Ellebb who grabbed 16 boards, including 13 on the defensive end.

Ladji Fofana recorded a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, Rahmel Thompson added 17 points, 13 of which came in the second half.

The Genesee bench combined for 27 points with Brandon Adams and Jaheem Page scoring 14 and 13 respectively.

Genesee (15-11, 5-2) currently holds the No. 2 spot in the WNYAC standings. The Cougars will head to Monroe CC on Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
