Coach Skip Sherman was named Head Coach in 2002, and is the active all-time wins leader for the Genesee Community College Baseball program.

Coach Sherman has been named the Region III Coach of the Year (2007) and the American Baseball Coaches Association Region III National Coach of the Year (2008). Coach Sherman is also responsible for the team's only conference championship in 2005, as well as its highest ever ranking in school history in 2007 when the Cougars were ranked 11th in the nation.

Coach Sherman looks to continue the success of a program that has won a combined 40 or more games in three out of the last four seasons. He has also had over 40 student athletes continue on after GCC, receiving baseball scholarships from division I, II and III colleges, and five players drafted by Major League Baseball teams.

Before joining Genesee Community College, Coach Sherman served as the Varsity head coach at Arkport High School in Arkport, New York. He was there for five seasons starting in 1991. Sherman moved on to serve as an assistant coach at Alfred State College in 1997, and served in the same capacity at division II Ashland University prior to joining the Cougars.

Coach Sherman lives in Brockport with his wife Kristy and their three children, Myles, Ty and Allie. Away from the diamond, Coach Sherman is an avid outdoorsman and turkey hunter. He is also in charge of the “Kids Night Out” program here at GCC, which allows area children to come to the college for a night of fun activities, in a safe environment.
