GCC Athlete's selected to All-Region Baseball Team

Two members of the GCC baseball team were recently selected to the All-Region III Division III Baseball Team, earning a place on the first and second team respectively. Sophomore shortstop/second baseman Brandon Henshaw (Brockport) was selected first team all-region and sophomore infielder Imanuel Gonzalez (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico) was selected second team all-region.

Henshaw, also named the Region III Division III Baseball Player of the Year, set GCC single season record for most hits with 71, most at bats with 159, and most runs scored with 57. He also set the career records for hits (116), batting average (.417) and runs scored (88). He was first in the region in hits and second in the region in batting average, hitting .447 this spring. Henshaw played in 51 of Genesee's 52 games this year and was named to the all-region team as a freshman in 2015 before sitting out all of last season with an injury.

Gonzalez tallied 37 hits this year and finished the spring with a .374 batting average. He had an on-base percentage of .547, drew the second most walks on the team with 30, scored 41 runs, and drove in 26 this season. Gonzalez also stole seven bases for Genesee, the third highest total on the team. He appeared in 40 games and logged 99 at bats.

Genesee ended its season with a 32-20 overall record, setting the single season spring record for most wins. The Cougars advanced to the regional final four and finished in third place.
