Athletic Facilities

Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium

Home to the famed Cougars, GCC's Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium houses fast-paced intercollegiate contests in basketball, volleyball, and more. Whether you're part of a team or attend games as a spectator, you'll soon see why the Cougars have been recognized on the district, regional, and national level. The gymnasium is also home to many of GCC's intramural sports activities, serving hundreds of students annually. It's also the scene of community athletic invitational events. The gymnasium is named in honor of Anthony T. Zambito, one of GCC's founders and a beloved trustee for over 30 years. Mr. Zambito, whose career included service in the World War II Manhattan Project, farming, the securities industry, and leadership training, took an active interest in GCC's athletic programs. Several generations of players knew Tony and recognized his love of Cougar athletic competitions, both home and away.

The Anthony T. Zambito Gymnasium was refurbished in 2009, the first upgrade to the gymnasium since it was first constructed in the early 1970s. A new floor, new lighting, new bleachers, and a new sound system brought the gymnasium into the new century.
Bleacher Capacity: 2,000

Richard C. Call Arena

The field house located inside the Richard C. Call Arena

Officially opening in May of 2016, the Richard C. Call Arena is the brand-new state of the art facility that is home to the Genesee Athletics Department. The Arena itself is a 20,400 square foot field house that can accommodate many different types of events – from sporting competitions to trade shows, community gatherings and is turned into a Convocation Hall for SUNY GCC Commencement. The entire facility houses many of GCC’s physical education classrooms and coaches offices. It is also the site of a brand-new state of the art Fitness Center, press box overlooking the Turf Field, meeting rooms and locker room facilities.

The Arena is dedicated in honor of longtime College supporter Richard C. Call, who was a member of the GCC Foundation Board from 2001 until his passing in 2014. Mr. Call was a strong proponent of volunteerism and philanthropy, and also an advocate of a new event center at GCC.

Turf Field

The turf field was completed in 2009 at the far west end of Genesee Community College’s Main Campus. Since its completion, the turf has been the home to the National Champion Soccer & Lacrosse programs. The lighted synthetic field gives the cougars the ability to play night games over the course of the semester. The scoreboard and bleachers provide the opportunity for spectators to get in on the action. We also have a covered home and away bench area.
Over the years, the turf field is also home to select high school events.
Bleacher Capacity: 750

Genesee Aquatic Center

You name the water event - swim team practice, open swimming, scuba classes, or community events - and you'll
find it at the Batavia Campus pool. Ideal for casual and competitive swimmers, the pool can accommodate up to 100
users and has a maximum depth of twelve feet.

The Genesee Aquatic Center is also home to Batavia High School and Notre Dame High School swim meets.

One cemented bleacher and multiple portable bleachers provide seating for spectators.

Softball Field

The softball at Genesee Community College is one of the best facilities in our area. The field was renovated in 2009 with new fencing, dugouts, scoreboard and an all dirt infield. Since the original renovation a hitting tunnel has been added. This field has hosted the Region III Softball Tournament. Portable bleachers provide seating for spectators. A new speaker system has also been installed for the public address system.

The softball field has also hosted the Section V Softball tournament over the years.

Tennis Courts

The tennis courts at Genesee have been a community access point for many years including the local high schools competing on them each fall. The six tennis courts were resurfaced and upgraded with lights in 2010 which opened up even more playing opportunity for our students and community members.

The physical education department used these courts for the Genesee Sport and Wellness Experience and currently utilizes them every semester for classes.
