BATAVIA, N.Y. - Lakers men's lacrosse dropped their third game of the season with a 4-27 loss to the Cougars of Genesee Community College.

The Cougars kicked off the scoring with an early 1-0 lead, but Lakers freshman Tre Lloyd (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) answered back to tie the game 1-1 with an impressive goal at the 11:45 mark of the first quarter. Despite a dedicated effort, the Lakers struggled to keep up with the Cougars, who scored two quick goals to take a 3-1 lead. However, sophomore AJ Golden (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) managed to find the back of the net for the Lakers to bring the score to 3-2 and keep the game within reach.

Despite a back-and-forth first quarter, the Cougars were able to gradually pull away and secure the win on their home field. Leading the way for the Lakers were sophomore Matthew McKay (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit), who netted his sixth goal and ninth point of the season in just three games played, and teammate Charlie Cheney (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua), who scored his second goal of the season in the matchup.

Starting goalie Caleb George-Cady (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) would make 15 saves for the Lakers.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will aim to bounce back when they return to action this Friday, March 31st for their home opener at the FLCC multi-turf facility against Monroe Community College. This game will be a special occasion as both teams join forces to participate in the HEADstrong Foundation's Attack Cancer series, raising funds to support the foundation and those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
