The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer team were defeated on the road by Genesee in a tough Region 3 match against their second straight nationally ranked program.

Despite falling behind early to the nationally recognized Cougars, receiving votes in the latest national poll, the Vikings kept fighting and found the back of the net late in the game. Kevin Kampula scored his first goal of the season at the 67:02 mark.

Nearly 20 second later, the Matthew Beattie also found the back of the net for the first time this season and gave the Vikings their second goal of the game.

The men's soccer program is back in action on Wednesday, September 22 as they travel to take on No. 2 ranked Herkimer in Herkimer, NY. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m., following the conclusion of the women's match at 4:30 p.m.
