Lakers Conclude Season After Regional Playoff Loss

BATAVIA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Soccer team concluded their season Wednesday, Oct. 27th, falling to the Cougars of Genesee Community College with a score of 5-0. The team earned a 7th seed in the Region III, Division III playoffs, facing tough competition against the #2 seed Cougars. With the loss, the Lakers round out their season, finishing with a record of 9-7-1. 

The Lakers held their own in the first half of the match, going into the break with a 1-0 deficit. The Cougars attack proved too much for the Lakers in the second half, exploding for 4 goals in route to a 5-0 victory.

The Cougars defense made it difficult for the Lakers to get scoring opportunities. The Cougars allowed only 3 shots on goal. Lakers Sophomore Allie Bowe (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) had 1 shot on goal, Freshman Morgan Collazo (Victor, N.Y./ Victor) earned 1 shot on goal and Freshman Jenna Tenney (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) had 1 shot on goal to round out the opportunities for the Lakers.

In 90' in the goal, Lakers Freshman Goalie Mackenzie Johnson-Boser (Dansville, N.Y./ Dansville) made 10 saves on the night. Boser finishes with 97 saves on the season, 8th most in school history on a season.

The Lakers have 9 returning Freshman heading into the Fall 2022 season, as the team looks to build on their successful season.
