Genesee Evens Season Series on Lakers Home Turf

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team dropped both games of Thursday afternoon's doubleheader vs. Genesee Community College at the Lakers Turf Baseball Complex.

FLCC (34-11, 16-2) dropped the opener by a score of 8-1 before being blanked 3-0 in the nightcap by GCC (27-8, 12-2), the first time the Lakers were swept in a home doubleheader this year.

In Game 1, sophomore Jorge Oropeza III (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) staked the Lakers to a 1-0 lead on a second-inning RBI single, but that was all the offense FLCC would muster against GCC.

The Lakers were held to four hits in the opener as their seven-game winning streak was snapped.

In Game 2, sophomore Devin Georgetti (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) struck out 12 batters with no walks, allowing three runs on eight hits in a complete game effort, but FLCC mustered only three hits in the loss.

Sophomore Kenny Murphy (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) had a double and classmates DJ Stoianovich (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) and Matthew DiSanti (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) each had singles for FLCC.

The Lakers welcome Corning Community College to campus Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for noon.
