Women's Basketball Secures Conference Win Over Genesee

BATAVIA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community College women's basketball team battled it out on the road and displayed their resilience in a 45-36 win over the host Cougars.

Freshman Leah Williams (Olean, N.Y./Olean) led the scoring for the team with 17 points, going 6-for-16 from the field. Williams would go on to dominate the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds to secure the double-double, while sinking 5 of her 7 shots from the charity stripe to round out an impressive night.

Sophomore Izzy Robson (Newark, N.Y./Newark) added 12 points, including two three-pointers, and contributed significantly with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Teammates. Jade Roussell (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) and Quynn Tallman (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) each added 5 points. Their impact was just limited to the scoring column as Roussell pulled down 10 rebounds, while Tallman secured 8 rebounds to help the Lakers control the paint. Sophomore Georgia Luft (Elba, N.Y./Elba) rounded out the scoring, adding 6 points to her tally on two three-pointers.

The team will play the last two games of their three-game road trip against the North Country Community College Saints this Saturday, February 3rd, followed by a trip to Corning Community College next Wednesday, February 7th.
