Langerman, Podlaski, Ferrer and Priest Named Athletes of the Week

GCC Athletes of the Week

The men's swimming trio of Matthew Langerman, Kyle Podlaski and Joan Ferrer and women's swimmer Angel Priest have been named the Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 13.

Langerman won the 500 free (5:03.79), 200 free (28.82) and the 1650 free (18:06.66). He was also a member of the 200 free relay team that broke the school record and swam to a second place finish (1:33.91).

Podlaski topped the 400 IM (4:22.75) and the 100 back (56.35), and broke his own school record when he won the 200 back (2:00.20).

Ferrer paced the 50 free (22.84), 100 fly (54.14) and the 100 free (48.82). 

Langerman, Podlaski and Ferrer were all members of the 400 free relay team that came in first (3:24.21) and the winning 800 free relay team (8:48.99), which beat the school record by 14 seconds.

Priest earned a pair of wins at the Region III/Northeast District Championships last weekend, helping the GCC women's swimming and diving team to a runner-up finish in the region.

Priest was an individual winner in the 200 back (2:21.83) and the 100 back (1:04.77). She was also a member of the winning 800 free relay team, swimming the race in 8:45.99.

Genesee will now move on to the NJCAA National Championships. The meet will take place in Buffalo at host site Erie CC and run from March 1-4.
